Currently all she talks about is Philip. Philip can do this, Philip can do that, Philip likes apples and has big brown eyes. I think that she is too young to fall in love!
Philip is a pony. An old granddad-pony of 23 years and with a brown fur. Is it called fur, on a pony? I call him a horse, because he is really big. So tall that me and him are in eye height. But technically he’s a pony because he is approximately 148 cm at the withers (so I have been told). And Noor seems so small when standing next to him.
I know absolutely nothing about horses, ponies or riding. Nothing at all. Neither does my husband. Neither does anyone in our family, or any of our friends. I don’t even have a riding-vocabulary. And Noor just recently chose this sport to be her favorite. To her, riding is the best after-school-activity to date. She talks about Philip all the time, and about riding.
The magic happens on every Thursday, the best day of the week, the day when she has her riding lessons. On Thursdays Noor is over the moon, a sort of out of the body experience for her, like it was her birthday, but once a week. The rest of the week, she just talks about Philip, until my ears are falling off.
So now.. we (kind of) know about horses, ponies and riding. A teeny tiny bit – because there is a lot to learn yet. And I actually love Thursdays now. Because I get to spend time with Noor and her hobby, and because I get to see how fast she learns to ride and how she gets familiar with how it all works (the grooming, the cleaning, the saddling – and all the others things and words that comes with riding).
And I am so proud of her! Even though she broke my mothers-heart a little, when she fell in love with Philip a couple of months ago.
